Opening statement

Welcome to Paperless Comics! This blog is a work in progress, and like all new places, it needs a bit of fixing up, but I have been anxious to get started with some serious webcomics blogging.

My goal is to cover the world of webcomics and do it objectively. Rants (editorials) will be clearly marked as such, but mostly, I want to connect people, keep them informed about what is going on in the world of webcomics, and help good comics and readers find each other. Longer-form reviews and creator interviews are more likely to end up at Unbound, my column on the Robot 6 blog, because, frankly, I get paid to write those. (First rule of the professional writer: Paid work comes first!)

I have been writing about webcomics since 2006, when Daku of Digital Strips was kind enough to invite me on board. I thought it would be a piece of cake, because at that point I had been writing about manga for a few years. I couldn’t be more wrong. While manga is pretty clearly defined, webcomics are all over the place. There is no Webcomics Central, which makes writing about them very, very hard but also very, very interesting. The webcomics world *is* the infinite canvas, so covering it is going to be a challenge, but at least I won’t run out of things to write about.

Enjoy!

Hey, glad to see you diving right into paperless comics along with everything else you have going on. I dig that paperless thing, too – maybe it’ll catch on as the standard over webcomics and online comics.

that was supposed to say best of luck, not best of lust.
