Question Riot has a nice interview with Box Brown, creator of Bellen!

Another day, another interview with Dan Hipp, this time at CBR, about his graphic novel series Gyakushu!

Print editions of webcomic seem to be making ripples in the wider world lately; the American Library Association’s Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA to its friends) included three on its Great Graphic Novels for Teens top ten list, and the Publishers Weekly Comics Week newsletter put Penny Arcade 6: The Halls Below and Dash Shaw’s Bodyworld on its list of The Big Graphic Novels of 2010.

With Webcomics.com now behind a paywall, Coyote Trax looks at the alternatives.

Larry Cruz recommends that you check out Shannon Wheeler’s Nihilarity, a single-panel comic with a strong New Yorker feel.

And Shaenon Garrity alerts us to Outside Infinity, a new comic by John Barber at Modern Tales. Here’s Shaenon:

In John’s words, Outside Infinity is “the sort-of true story of a guy who discovers the mathematical proof of the existence of black holes…while dying on of an incurable disease on the losing side of Russian front in World War I.”

Joel Watson of Hijinx Ensue is the guest on the latest TGT Webcomics podcast. At Digital Strips, Jason and Steve check out two newer webcomics, Loldwell and My Milk Toof, in their latest Horizons Watch podcast. And the latest Webcomic Beacon podcast features a B&W-vs.-color smackdown.

Platinum Studios has secured a $5 million line of credit with Dutchess Opportunity Fund II LP. This seems to be revolving around Platinum’s stable of characters and the opportunity to turn them into something other than comics. Dutchess Capital is “an investment manager which provides creative financing for promising, growth-stage companies.”

Gary Tyrrell has the guest list for the Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF), and it sounds pretty awesome.

OT, but hopefully interesting nonetheless: I went to the American Library Association’s Midwinter Meeting and reported back on the graphic novels scene at Robot 6.
