Webcomics creators speak!

5032_39350BCayetano Garza has just announced a print edition of The Year of the Rat, which took the 2009 Ignatz Award for Outstanding Online Comic.

Wowio went from being a much-heralded free download site that actually paid its creators serious money to a much-derided failure after being acquired by Platinum in 2008, but now Sean Kleefeld reports that owner Brian Altounian has found more financing, paid off its debts (including money owed to creators from 2008) and is looking to spruce up and perhaps be acquired by someone else in the future. At Comics Worth Reading, Bill Williams (who is also referenced in that first link, above) confirms in comments that indeed, he has been paid.

  3. Ruby’s World, the webcomic reviewed by Luprand, is my webcomic. I would be very interested in knowing what anyone else thinks, though Luprand did a very thoughtful review of it.
